My flirtation with the latest offer in WordPress.com themes is at an end. The starkness of the black and white banding and the crispness of the block quotes were the good points but I did miss the mountains… and more importantly the links to the next and previous posts and categories, oh and I do find serif fonts a little fussy on a computer screen. I hope that on balance more people are happy with this design than the last.
This is been one of the busiest weeks I had in a while, I am writing a new course for Rittman Mead Consulting on some specific aspects of OWB, and plan to deliver it for the first time the week after UKOUG. Getting the scenarios set-up and tested and suitable screenshots copied into the presentation takes time, especially if you need to build a new environment first. But I am nearly done and should be able to show my colleagues the finished piece next week – which should give me enough time to fix any snags and print the course materials in time for the course
Which reminds me that next week I will be in Birmingham for the UKOUG conference – I hope to catch up with lots of old friends and possibly make some new ones. I am toying with the idea of wearing the blue jacket this year, but Mark is threatening us with the concept of corporate uniform…
Hopefully, internet connection willing. I’ll get a few posts in from UKOUG next week, I doubt that I will be going the whole soundbite route that Eddie managed so well from OOW (even though I have a lot of the software on my MacBook already) – but words are a possibility as are pictures.
The other thing I am working on this week is a possible presentation for the Spring UKOUG BI special event – I have a few ideas and just need a few days mulling them over to see if they hold water – I need to get an abstract in by 17 December so should hurry on a bit
