Data Quality goes large

My friend, Beth, is really passionate about data quality and community involvement. Recently she bemoaned how difficult it is to foster a sense of community about a subject area (data quality) as opposed to a product (insert name of database or application here). The problem is that people are writing about the topic but not in the same place or even necessarily being aware of others. So Beth has constructed this data quality feed with thanks to Eddie Awad.

I firmly believe that you can’t really build a data warehouse without addressing the quality of information you intend to store – duplicated, incorrectly described  or missing data all lead to wrong results and these days that is not acceptable. So I for one have added the aggregator to my RSS list.

  1. Thanks Pete! Vince McBurney gets mucho thanks as well, for getting things rolling. Twas he that noticed the lack of interaction and decided to dedicate all of November’s posts from his blog (http://blogs.ittoolbox.com/bi/websphere) to the topic. If anyone has a cool quality-related post from October or November I suggest submitting it to Vince for the first-ever Carnival of Data Quality coming at month’s end.

  2. Hey another good blog, I was already subscribed to Mark Rittman’s blog. Beth’s aggregator is already paying off! I’ll get it onto my blog sidebar for the first DQ Carnival edition next week. I’ve had my own data quality aggregator using the Google Reader Share icon but this is more comprehensive.
