I see that Mark Rittman has moved to a WordPress based blog, and very nice it looks too. True some of the images on old posts are a little clipped by the margins, but select and show image will reveal all. In fact I always got slightly annoyed with the old blog appearing wider than my screen whenever wide pictures were used.
Readers of long standing will remember that when I moved over from Blogger.com in the summer (June, I think) I did a wholesale import of content and comment. Somewhat later I fixed up the inter-post links so that they referred to the the new WordPress pages and not the original Blogger.com post. I also wrote a little JavaScript redirect to put in the Blogger template so that when people found a page they ended up redirected to the correct monthly archive page (usually, unless I posted a lot in a month). Well, I think time has come – I have taken down the old Blogger pages and have only left a ‘change of address card’ on the site.
I guess for a while there will be a lot of people that no longer find me through search engines – I did get a lot* of traffic that way, but the content is still around (just use the search box on this site!) so it will be found again, and hopefully the technical stuff would get a more prominent place in the search engine rankings than my fashion sense and occasional rants about hidden meat in sweets.
